In 15 years of coaching one thing remains constant, that it is up to the player to work on their game, a good coach will help you get technically sound but you must practice, many of my students just do one lesson a week, they improve, but the more you practice the faster you improve. Bad coaching can hold you back, but lack of practice stops more players from improving than anything else, so find a wall to hit against, practice your serve, get friends out to play, a sibling but just get started!

Tips for improving your game
For newer players find a wall and at a slow pace keep the ball going ten times. If you can do this on your forehand side then do the same on your backhand. You don't have to hit topspin or hit big shots just see if you can block, bunt or tap it back 10 times. If you can do this then keep trying for more. Try a used ball as a new one is too lively to practice with, the goal is to develop proper habits and then once that is done then we can always speed up the drill or use a livelier ball, but at first slow is the way to go.
Drop and hit
Yes it is that simple, take one ball at a time and drop and hit it, you can really perfect shots just be doing this drill, if you can't hit a ball off a drop very well you probably should work this simple drill regularly.
Mon thru Thur at 6pm and 7pm at the Orlando Tennis Center, one hour sessions where you hit a lot and receive instruction, cost $15.
